Breast Cancer Australia Privacy Policy
Breast Cancer Australia is a non profit organisation established primarily to
raise funds to support ongoing national breast cancer research programs, to
raise awareness for both prevention measures and early detection of breast
cancer, upgrade equipment used at diagnostic levels, treatment and research
levels and to provide dignified accommodation for patients and their families
during oncology treatment.
Our commitment to Privacy
Breast Cancer Australia understands the importance of protecting each
individual's right to privacy. We are bound by, and commit ourselves to,
compliance with the provisions relating to privacy and to collection, use and
disclosure of personal information set out in;-
- The Privacy Act 1988
- The National Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 3 to that Act.
Why we collect personal information and what we use it for.
We have a number of reasons for which we may obtain your personal information,
including:

Records of any donations you have made and receipts we have sent
To provide information about our services and programs Breast Cancer Australia
Details of those who have used our services
How and when we collect personal information
This information may be collected through face-to-face interactions, telephone
conversations or through electronic communication. We may have obtained this
information via:
Fundraising programs, including events that may have been run by members of the
public with proceeds benefiting
Use of our services or facilities
When you purchase a product or submit a grant application
If you take part in a survey or research project
Employment opportunities
This information may then be used for a number of reasons, including:
To seek your support for our programs
To contact you about similar services or programs in the future
To maintain financial records relating to donations
To invite you to special events or inform you of our progress and achievements
We won't use your information for any reason beyond that for which we first
obtained it unless it's reasonable to expect the information would be used for
such a purpose, you agreed that we could use it or it isn't sensitive
information and we are using it for our marketing purposes.

posting to Level 2, 255 Pulteney Street, Adelaide SA 5000and we will remove you
from future contacts.
When personal information is not collected by Breast Cancer Australia
Please note that for instantaneous donations where you have made a small
donation and either received a pre-printed receipt immediately or refused a
receipt, no information is obtained.
Security - keeping your personal information secure
All personal information is kept secure. Physical data is kept in a secure
location to which only authorised Management has access and electronic data is
protected by passwords and other access restrictions.
Access to personal information to a third party
We will only provide personal information to a third party when we are required
to do so by law, in the interests of your health or safety or with your consent.
Destruction of personal information
Once information is no longer needed, it is all securely destroyed.
Of course, at any time, you are welcome to contact us to find out what
information we may have relating to you. If for any reason we're unable to
provide you with this, we will let you know why. If you know that any of our
information is incorrect, please let us know and we will update our records
immediately.

Complaints
Any complaint made to the Breast Cancer Australia, or to an officer or employee
of the Trust other than the privacy officer, that is related to privacy or to
our use of personal information is to be referred forthwith to the privacy
officer. Any person dissatisfied with the handling of a complaint by the privacy
officer may make a written request to the Board of Breast Cancer Australia to
have the handling of the complaint reviewed.

Policy without notice by posting an amended version online at

At Breast Cancer Australia we understand the importance of protecting your
privacy and we are committed to complying with the Privacy Act and the National
Privacy Principles. A copy of our Privacy Policy is available on request.
As such, Breast Cancer Australia will only collect personal information that is
necessary for us to fulfil our functions or activities and will use only lawful
and fair means to do this.
At any time, we are happy to enlarge on the reasons we have taken the
information and disclose to you any information we may have. Should we be unable
to provide you with some or all of the information we hold, we will inform you
as to why this has occurred.
At no time will we disclose personal information to any third party except as
required by law, nor will we use it for any unreasonable purpose or purpose
wholly unrelated to the reason for which we first obtained the information.
Whenever possible, we will attempt to get personal information about a person
directly from that person. We will also attempt to ensure that all our
information is up to date, complete and accurate.
All personal information is kept confidential. Only approved Management staff
have access to personal information and appropriate electronic and physical
protection is applied to all personal and sensitive information. Once we no
longer require personal information, it is securely destroyed.
Sometimes we may be required to give some personal information about you to
other organisations to comply with our legal obligations. Examples of such
organisations are our auditors, the Australian Taxation Office, Centrelink or
Government accommodation subsidy agents in relevant states.
The Privacy Act gives you rights to access the personal information we hold
about you, and you can ask to correct that information if it is inaccurate. More
